We are seeking a talented individual to join our Technical Services Center factory as a Maintenance Engineer. The purpose of this position is to work in collaboration with the Packaging/Warehouse Maintenance Superintendent regarding Packaging/Warehouse productivity, reliability, and cost effectiveness, which are the primary goals of the Packaging/Warehouse staff. This position assists with the development, implementation, and management of Operational Excellence initiatives in the Packaging/Warehouse areas at all five factories, including preventative maintenance objectives as well as instrumentation control systems work.
The principal accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Operational Excellence programs for all five Packaging/Warehouse departments which impact the packaging lines, sugar conveying systems, sugar storage, bulk sugar loading, warehousing and instrumentation and electronic control systems. These systems utilize computerized maintenance information systems in establishing and recording maintenance and project activities.
- Works with the factory Maintenance Planners to optimize costs and ensures the maintenance work is effectively scheduled to meet Operational Excellence requirements and manages activities to ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance. The Maintenance Engineer [Packaging/Warehouse] resolves planning issues and coordinates with the Packaging/Warehouse Supervisors on maintenance crew issues.
- Incorporates safety into all daily tasks, solutions, designs and projects.
- This position conducts research on new ways to improve productivity, reliability, and cost effectiveness of overall Packaging/Warehouse operations. The Maintenance Engineer [Packaging/Warehouse] receives guidance from the Packaging/Warehouse Maintenance Superintendent and consults with the Packaging/Warehouse Supervisors and the Packaging/Warehouse Manager to provide engineering related input and design in developing solutions and system improvements. The Maintenance Engineer [Packaging/Warehouse] also provides input on equipment, especially instrumentation and control systems standardization.
- This position participates in the development and review of Packaging/Warehouse maintenance and capital budgets for approval by the Packaging/Warehouse Manager and Director of Technical Services. The incumbent monitors individual capital projects ensuring OSHA, environmental, code and quality standards are met and that projects are completed on budget, on time and meet objectives. The overall maintenance budget for the five Packaging/Warehouse departments is also monitored in coordination with the individual factory Packaging/Warehouse Supervisors, the Packaging/Warehouse Maintenance Superintendent, and the Packaging/Warehouse Manager.
- The Maintenance Engineer [Packaging/Warehouse] is involved in the selection and management of outside engineering contractors and vendors ensuring work meets OSHA, environmental, code and quality standards and is completed on budget, on schedule and meets objectives.
- The incumbent is responsible to maximize the overall return to the company on capital projects, and to improve efficiencies and minimize downtime through an effective preventative maintenance excellence program.

To be successful in this position requires the completion of a four-year mechanical or electrical engineering degree with three to five years of related industrial engineering experience. Knowledge and/or experience with Operational Excellence is preferred. Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems, packaging, warehousing, bulk sugar storage, loading equipment and operations is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, code compliance, food safety and food quality regulations is critical, as well as a strong knowledge of budgeting.
