Mailroom Clerk

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Mail room Clerk will be responsible for the shipping and receiving of mail. The Mail room Clerk must have organizational skills and a strong work ethic. He will be responsible for tracking all shipments and deliveries promptly. The Mail room Clerk must also have data entry skills to log and track the mail, must be able to work independently and is responsible for making sure that time-sensitive documents reach the receivers on time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fold, assemble, label, collate and apply postage to direct mail pieces
• Carry incoming paper supplies from the ground floor to the mail room
• Operate various mail sorting machines
• Sort incoming mail, opening envelopes by hand or machine, and deal with parcels
• Date-stamp incoming mail
• Transport stamped mail to the post office facility/mail drop
• Provide general mail room duties and coverage as required
• Assist with clerical duties as needed.
• Transport stamped mail to the post office facility/mail drop/ other delivery companies such a FedEx.
• Process return mail and fill out the return mail log.
• Maintains inventory of mail room supplies

REQUIREMENTS:

• Working well in a high-pressure environment
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Computer and Data Entry skills for record-keeping/tracking of mail
• Ability to work alone with limited support using independent judgment and discretion
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Requires frequent standing, pushing carts, some lifting of light to moderately heavy mail bins and packages
• Requires frequent bending/stooping, reaching, repetitive hand movements
• Must have reliable transportation
• Excellent organizational skills
• Valid driver's license
• Previous mail room or clerical experience a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
