Fermilab's Mac environment currently uses Jamf Pro to centrally manage macOS 10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra), and 10.12 (Sierra) and iOS devices. The Mac Desktop Engineer will work within the Desktop Engineering group and assist the Sr. Mac Desktop Engineer with oversight of Desktop Support activities, tier 3 support, routine central management monitoring, monitor and update service desk tickets, generate reporting, and participate in projects as representative for the Mac-side of Desktop Engineering.
Essential Functions
•Experience with supporting standard Apple hardware (macOS and iOS)
•Experience troubleshooting (Tier 3) and root cause analysis for macOS and third-party software
•Experience working on multi-person cross-functional projects
•Experience creating and modifying scripts (bash, perl, python, ruby, etc.)
•Ability to identify, design, and implement improvements/ upgrades to the Mac environment
•Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
•Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) at the Fermilab site
Qualifications
•3+ years' experience in supporting Macs in the enterprise or education environment, required
•Experience working in multi-person cross-functional projects, required
•Experience working in a support environment, interfacing with customers, using a ticket trackingsystem, required
•Strong scripting experience, required
•Up to date with current Apple hardware and software products, including macOS and iOS,required
•Experience with Jamf Pro central management suite, preferred
•Knowledge of ITIL Best Practices, preferred
•Knowledge of ServiceNow support ticket system, preferred
•Knowledge of Web API's, Kerberos, and certificates, a plus
•Knowledge of Windows operating system, a plus
•Knowledge of Linux operating system, a plus
