Our Luxury Area Sales Manager manages and trains a team of Wine & Spirits Managers & Specialists along with oversight to their respective areas of responsibility. Responsible for sales volume and revenue goals identified across luxury retail and on-premise accounts. Responsible for the training, development, performance assessment and motivation of team members to meet or exceed sales plans and ensure proper representation of our brands in Luxury Wine & Spirits accounts.

Partners closely with Operations, Customer Service & A/R teams to ensure overall customer satisfaction by helping to resolve delivery/accounts receivable issues and ensuring that product is delivered to retailers/buyers in a timely manner.

  

What You Will Do: 

  • Directly supervises all Luxury Wine & Spirits Managers & Specialists.
  • Builds sales management skills of team by providing them with a sense of direction and confidence.
  • Ensures that Luxury Wine & Spirits Managers & Specialists understand and apply the Gallo Sales Management System.
  • Prepares development programs to assist Luxury Wine & Spirits Managers & Specialists in gaining and improving their brand advocacy & customer relationship building skills.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key luxury Wine & Spirits customers to establish brand advocacy.
  • Recognizes and solves problems that transcend their skill level.
  • Provides motivation to each assigned Luxury Wine & Spirits Managers & Specialists in order that they perform at capacity.
  • Participates in meeting distribution, cold box and shelf objectives.
  • On a weekly basis, surveys assigned accounts to focus on account conditions and develop programs to correct deficiencies.
  • Reviews team’s monthly and weekly schedules to ensure that time has been allocated in such a way that the objectives will be met.
  • Periodically reviews and verifies accomplishments reported by team on their daily reports and trackers.
  • Periodically reviews field observations reported on daily analysis sheets.
  • Provides guidance for problems relating to motivating, training, and developing team members.
  • Observes each team member in the field to gain knowledge of their working relationships.
  • Reviews and approves plans for Orientation and Field Training for all new team members.
  • Plans and conducts team meetings.
  • Takes corrective and proactive action to address problems and issues that arise.
  • Oversees special projects and events relating to wine education, luxury wine & spirits brands and corporate relationship building.
  • Provides guidance and direction on customer activation events, luncheons and dinners.
  • Participates & engages in all sales recruiting efforts.
  • Reviews all assigned expense reports for Area.
  • Ensures that all distributor products are sold in compliance with the law and in accordance with policies and procedures of the distributorship.
  • Maintains records that are required to keep management informed about activities in assigned accounts.
  • Participates in territory realignment when necessary. Maintains an updated list of accounts in Area.
  • Helps develop Luxury brands incentive programs.
  • Continuously reviews opportunity accounts list with team.
  • Makes Key Account calls when necessary.
  • Practices safe work and driving habits and, if accountable for others, ensures their understanding and compliance of such habits.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

  • Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
  • If accountable for the work of others, conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

 

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of wine or spirits sales experience to include at least two (2) years of Gallo Wholesaler or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of wine or spirits sales experience with a Gallo wholesaler or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with selling or marketing luxury products.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a New Jersey driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to travel by air and car as part of job duties.
  • Required to lift and move 45 – 57 pound cases of product.
  • Required to work weekends for special functions/events, when necessary.
  • Required to obtain a New Jersey solicitor permit.
  • Required to be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

 

What Will Set You Apart: 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of luxury wine sales experience to include at least one year of affiliated distributor experience; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of both retail and on-premise experience as a district manager and/or area manager reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 2 years of experience as District Sales Manager.
  • Experience with event planning.
  • CSS and/or CSW Certifications.
  • Demonstrated Leadership aptitude and skill.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork experience.

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $118,600- $178,000.
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
