Job Description
Christie Clinic's department of Pulmonary Medicine is seeking a full-time LPN at the University Clinic from Monday - Friday 8am-5pm.
Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. At least one year of practical nursing experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances and bodily fluids. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
- Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.
- Observe, record and report patient’s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment.
- Assist provider with office procedures.
- Perform allergy testing, as directed. Give injections for allergy desensitization.
- Perform and administer the injections needed for treatment. Order necessary supplies for therapy, as needed.
- Maintain drug samples.
- Maintain MSR’s and hospital charges.
- Perform related work as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from a practical school of nursing
