Position Summary
The Breathe Chicago Center (BCC), Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep & Allergy, Department of Medicine is currently seeking applicants to join the team as a Community Affairs Specialist I- Clinical Research (Civil Service Position). The BCC at the University of Illinois at Chicago conducts research in COVID-19 and chronic lung disease funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. We conduct studies in collaboration with academic health centers in Chicago and across the U.S. The BCC is a multi-disciplinary team of research coordinators, informaticians, regulatory specialists, designers, physicians, nurses, epidemiologists, and statisticians. We develop, test, and implement innovative, data-driven strategies to investigate and improve health outcomes in the community we serve as well as the broader population. We work to improve lung health in patients with asthma and COPD, and seek to understand the impact of COVID-19.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in public contact with an agency or organization that is oriented toward community activities.
- Experience working within a health/clinical research environment and handling sensitive patient/participant information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience communicating with underserved communities
- Familiarity with research methods.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, REDCap, EPIC.
- Commonly known principles required for this field of work
- Knowledge of community personnel, programs, organizations, resources, and issues of public concern.
- Knowledge of the administrative and organizational structure of the campus and/or its major components.
