The LOP Billing Medical Billing / Data Entry position is responsible for accurately entering Medical Billing data into the system, with a focus on LOP billing. The ideal candidate will have experience in Medical Billing and Data Entry, and be able to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment. The LOP Specialist must always safeguard and protect the patients right to privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals have access to the patients’ medical information
Key Responsibilities:- Enter Medical Billing data into the system
- Focus on LOP billing
- Ensure accuracy of Data Entry
- Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Respond and process requests from physician offices on a priority basis.
- Reviewing and responding to requests incoming from attorney and/or courts, law enforcement, and healthcare insurance companies.
- Reviews accounts for appropriate and accurate charges before releasing billing information.
- Works with other departments to find resolution to accounts with errors or incomplete before processing information.
- Documents the release of information in the patient medical record or other means determined by management.
- Responsible for completing affidavits and written depositions.
- Monitors incoming request by various means and respond in a timely manner.
- Ensure daily deadlines are met with accuracy and precision.
- Maintain release of information log daily.
- Ensure that pertinent documents are notarized in timely manner.
- Escalate issues to manager that delay timely release of records.
- All other duties, as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in Medical Billing and Data Entry
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of Letter of Protection and Personal Injury is a benefit
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
