Orion Marine Group has immediate openings for Logistics Manager, in Tampa, FL. This position is accountable for ensuring that the necessary marine equipment, machinery, and tools are transported or made available to the jobsite employees to complete project work. The incumbent also ensures proper maintenance, storage and warehousing of equipment, tools, and materials. Typically, this individual will work closely with the Area Equipment Manager, Operations Manager, Project Managers, Mechanics, General Superintendents and Administrative Staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
Works closely with the Equipment/Welding Superintendents, Port Captain, Equipment Manager and Project Management Teams to develop a comprehensive equipment utilization program and long-range strategy to ensure efficient marine construction operations.
Manages all aspects of international freight operations, including booking, documentation, and execution, ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations and safety standards for hazardous materials.
Negotiates pricing and maintain strong relationships with carriers, shipping lines, and freight forwarders.
Acts as a logistical advisor to field equipment personnel to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
Assists management team with final equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases in order to meet area budgetary goals.
Stays abreast of changes in shipping regulations and industry standards, implementing necessary adjustments to our processes and documentation.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensures all international logistics activities comply with international, national, and local regulations related to the transportation of chemicals.
Maintains accurate records of all international shipments.
Assist with the successful implementation and operation of the company's equipment/asset management software program.
Holds all subordinate employees accountable for complying with Orion Marine Group Safety / Operational Policies and mandated regulatory guidelines.
Promotes safe work practices and programs and encourages all employees to demonstrate compliance with all Safety policies and procedures.
Works closely with the Operations Managers and Project Managers, Maintenance Staff, and other skilled and semi-skilled crafts persons in the mechanical field to complete current projects in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision
Position Requirements:
A minimum of ten (10) years marine construction/equipment experience or equivalent training/experience in a marine construction supervisory capacity is required. 5+ years Management experience. Incumbents must be well-versed in receiving and handling of equipment used for marine operations. In addition, incumbents must have knowledge of the integration of various crafts and equipment required to successfully perform their work. Craft knowledge should include pile-driving, crane operations, welding, carpentry, sandblasting, pipefitting and related areas.
The incumbent must also 1) be well organized in order to effectively oversee several projects simultaneously, 2) be able to hold Foreman and their crews accountable for safe work practices and work performance excellence, 3) be able to influence and motivate Foreman and members of their project teams, and 4) possess excellent communication skills.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
In addition, the successful candidate must also be capable of:
Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting onto and off of work barges, boats, vessels, or dock facilities of varying heights and access parameters
Adapting to extreme temperature changes
Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure
