Overall Responsibilities:
The Logistics Coordinator supports all ordering and movement of material with regard to distributed products. This position initiates purchase orders from our international suppliers and distribution orders for transfer of materials between VTI locations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Initiate transfer requests, Distribution Orders (DO), and Purchase Orders (PO) in IFS for movement of materials from one VT location to another
- Coordinate with plant load planners to verify transportation of transfer is completed in a timely manner with the lowest cost option
- Act as the main point of contact with our ocean Freight Forwarders, coordinating tracking of container movement from source to desired final destination
- Coordinate submission of POs to international vendors in support of Newline raw material needs; coordinate and report movement of those materials and estimated timeline
- Assist with Transportation data analysis, specifically for ocean transport and container drayage
- Make recommendations for new orders of product based on historic sales and forecasted needs
- Work with coworkers at all levels within the organization
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prefer operations, supply chain, logistics/transportation, or highly analytical work experience
- Strong qualitative skills and competency working with large sets of data in Excel, Smartsheet, and other analytics tools as needed. Certification in the use of these tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively to improve processes and solve problems
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external team. This may include cross-functional relationships as well as relationships with carriers.
- Must have good customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Microsoft Office skills; PC Miller and IFS experience beneficial
- Must be detail oriented
- Able to work with people at all levels within the organization
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work 8 to 10 hours daily as required, 5 days per week

Physical Requirements
Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional light lifting (25 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required.
