The Logistics Clerk oversees all the outbound shipments to be delivered as requested by our customers. The duties also include analyzing all aspects of company logistics to determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of transporting product to customers, selecting carriers and researching shipping methods.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Coordinate the most cost-effective and efficient means of product transportation for LTL truckload shipments and ocean freight.
- Ensure documents are accurate and complete, including the correct product, quantities, and weights.
- Generate shipping documents, such as bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
- Responsible for verifying and completing the necessary documentation, permits, or customs forms for international shipments.
- Determine the method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, rates, and customer needs.
- Track and monitor the progress of shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Addresses any shipping issues or problems that may arise, such as delays, damages, or incorrect shipments.
- Analyze delivery quality such as on-time delivery rate and damage rate and feedback to carriers.
- Maintain carrier profile, carrier rates and track carrier service, price, and performance.
- Negotiates shipping rates with carriers.
- Schedule and coordinate trucks to deliver and pick up product by maximizing the load capacity of our in-house trucks.
- Act as a point of contact for all logistic issues.
- Investigate customer’s claim and handle action to avoid the same claim.
- Communicate with warehouse personnel, drivers, office workers, etc to better our processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Proven experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and customs procedures is advantageous.
