Summary of Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and dispatching outbound orders for the facility. This position will decide how the orders are pulled, packaged, and shipped within the WMS system. The Load Planner/truck planner role has a direct relationship with packaging costs, labor efficiencies, and claim rates. The position will be required to communicate shipping information to customer service, pulling demands to warehouse supervision, and individual customer requirements to the warehouse workers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plan outbound shipping orders into consolidated packages
- Schedule the outbound shipping requirements including the following: loading instructions, dispatching of trucks, and document creation.
- Expedite “hot orders”
- Print Pull labels which include highlighting customer instructions
- Communicate outbound demands to management staff
- Warehouse liaison to customer service
- Communicate with various trucking lines via email and phone. Dispatch daily pickups. Communicate stops to carriers and contact truck companies when extra trucks are needed.
- Back-up to Shipping Clerks
Selection Criteria:
- Communicate effectively – ability to express ideas cross-functionality
- Warehouse knowledge – understanding of productivity, loading, warehouse layout, customer service, and trucking functions
- Organizational skills – ability to multi-task
- Cognitive skills – ability to solve basic problems analytically
Educational Requirements:
High School mandatory, college preferred
Technical Skills Required:
- WMS- MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Warehouse knowledge
