The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is recruiting to fill an Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) position in the Learning Technology Resources Bureau (LTR).
A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate respect for diverse stakeholder perspectives, effective communication skills, and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical people.
This position supports POST's mission through the Learning Technology Resource (LTR) bureau, which is dedicated to researching and developing advanced technology for training law enforcement . LTR currently features the Learning Portal (LP) Learning Management System (LMS), an instance of Blackboard, along with numerous high quality interactive self-paced training courses and videos. The incumbent will be one of two lead administrators assisting 100,000+ end users and working in an Agile environment along with support staff, instructional designers, project managers, law enforcement, analysts, and engineers. There are opportunities to contribute, and learn, the following:
- Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Programming in a MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, REACT, NodeJS), TS, JS, and JSON
- MS Azure and AWS cloud environments
- Editing and preparing media for streaming
- JIRA, Git, NPMJS
- System administration experience (e.g., working as an LMS Administrator)
- Customer support and troubleshooting
- Experience and knowledge of relevant technologies and development
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Ability to work with others in a positive manner
- Experience working with media
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another related technical field is highly desirable.
