This is an unpaid internship/externship opportunity for 1Ls and 2Ls in law school who are looking for a position during the summer. Among other things, we litigate civil cases against factory farms; hold the police accountable for misconduct; and fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
This is a small firm, and you will work hands on with the two attorneys here every week. Our interns have gone on to work for the consumer division of the Ohio Attorney General, work on projects for the ACLU, work for the state of Ohio to safeguard against elder abuse, and work for the Ohio Legislative Services Commission.
The intern will have the opportunity to learn to do the following:
- Interact with clients
- Draft complaints
- Perfect service of process
- Draft Rule 26(f) reports and work with opposing counsel
- Attend Rule 16 conferences with magistrates and judges
- Draft and serve discovery
- Prepare discovery responses and objections
- Draft and file various motions
- Conduct hearings and trials
- Domestic and execute judgments
We practice in both federal and state court, and this is a great Position for someone who is looking to go into litigation.
