Lehmbecker Law is looking for a Litigation Associate. We are looking for a litigator, not a case manager, to help us in our mission of providing aggressive advocacy and superb results to our clients.
The ideal candidate must thus possess the following characteristics.
- A desire to try cases and be a fierce advocate for the firm’s clients.
- A willingness to deliver value to clients by litigating difficult and contested cases
- Capable of managing a substantial hearing and trial calendar
- Willing to conduct regular arbitrations, administrative evidentiary hearings, and trials
- Willingness to conform to the firm’s philosophy of moving cases forward as rapidly as possible, filing cases early and using the tools of litigation to secure superb results for clients.
We are a boutique firm of three attorneys and a dozen very experienced and well-trained paralegals, case managers, legal assistants, and administrative support staff. We work as a team to manage the firm’s case load and thus the ideal candidate must also possess these characteristics:
- A desire to work in a collegial setting, interacting and consulting daily with fellow attorneys and staff to manage and move our client’s cases forward expeditiously.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills;
- A willingness to be regularly present in the office to interact effectively with coworkers and to provide support, direction and mentorship to staff.
About The Position: You will be assigned a litigation case load and will work in conjunction with and under the direction of the firm’s senior attorneys. You will conduct discovery, hearings, arbitrations and trials primarily in Superior Court but also at the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, and likely will be involved in arbitrations or other contested hearings nearly every month. You will also interact with the firm’s pre-litigation teams to assess and help shape complex and high-value cases likely headed for litigation.
About The Firm: We're an established (35+ years), boutique Plaintiff's Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation Law. We care about our clients and are dedicated to providing them exceptional responsiveness, aggressive advocacy, and stellar results, while upholding the highest standards of personal and legal ethics and integrity. We care about our employees also, and value and respect work/life balance. We have multiple employees with 5+ and 10+ years with the firm. We do have big caseloads and work very hard during business hours, but have a team approach, with shared responsibilities, and total support. We have beautiful office spaces in Bellevue and Federal Way. We provide all employees comprehensive health care coverage, disability coverage, and retirement participation. We pay well, with open-ended pay scales, and bonus participation.
About You: You enjoy and have a desire to try cases, using all the tools of litigation to obtain superb results for clients. You have experience trying cases and a hunger to do more. You have a track record of success, both academically and professionally. You've already demonstrated your interest in developing your litigation skills and have also shown that you have exceptional interpersonal and staff management skills. You are a take-charge person who can move a caseload forward in an aggressive fashion to the end of securing exceptional results for our clients. You know that jumping into a large existing litigation case load will be challenging, but you're confident you would handle it well and it's the kind of challenge you're looking for.
Empathy is important to you, and helping people and winning great results for injured people motivates you. You want to make a difference in people's lives. You value a work environment where ethics and integrity are unimpeachable, and where everyone is positive and mission-focused. You like the idea of being part of a firm that aspires to the highest standards of advocacy and client responsiveness.
You like the idea of being part of a firm where all employees are treated as valuable and crucial to the firm's success. You enjoy working in a team environment and contributing to the mentorship of less-experienced staff. You know how to project and instill confidence in your staff and how to motivate them.
Career growth is important to you and you want to find a long-term home where your experience, talents and skills will be appreciated and rewarded, and where you know there is growth and flexibility available to achieve your career goals.
You will appreciate an employer that values work/life balance and provides the flexibility to make that work. You know how and like to work hard, when to put in the extra hours, and when to take a day or a week off without putting yourself or anyone else in a bind.
You want to be part of a firm that is respected, successful and growing, and are excited about the prospect of helping your firm to grow and sharing in the rewards that comes with success.
