Position Summary
The Opportunity: Be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team who supports the U.S Navy’s Strategic System Program (SSP). We are searching for an on-site Linux System Administrator to support the Information Technology Operations Team. The Role: As a Linux System Administrator you will work with a Team to install, configure, maintain, and deploy Linux Servers. You will: • Install, configure, harden, patch, tune, upgrade and archive Linux Servers • Harden Linux Servers in accordance with System Security Policies and DISA STIGs • Troubleshoot issues to restore operations • Assist with COTS installations, tuning, and troubleshooting • Perform vulnerability scans and remediate findings • Create technical documentation to include technical instructions and technical designs Who You Are: • You are eager to work in a DoD environment supporting the customer’s mission • You love learning how to use and administer new tools and technologies • You enjoy working with people and collaborating across teams • You have a high degree of personal drive, initiative and the ability to drive change
Skills Required
Success in this position requires: • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance • An IAT II certification as specified in the DoD 8570 • Ability to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC), badge access to the customer’s facility, and a SSP network account in good standing • Bachelor's Degree and at least 6 years of position related work experience; OR equivalent position related work experience. • The ability to understand and remediate vulnerabilities identified by CTOs, IVAMs, DISA STIGS, ACAS, and evaluate STIG • Proficient with Linux Native Security tools o Capable of installing, configuring, and operating AIDE across multiple machines o Capable of managing SELINUX and SELINUX policies across a wide software baseline o Understanding of Linux native firewall and system services • Java/Tomcat/TomcatEE/Glassfish installation and application support (troubleshooting, upgrades) • Docker container deployment and container management (build, test, and update). • NFS/CIFS deployment, configuration and troubleshooting • Must be capable of working in a small team using Agile methodology • Must be capable of working with engineering staff to diagnoses correct issues • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and supporting protocols • Self-motivation and ability to work independently • Basic knowledge of Virtualization (VMWARE Preferred) and relational databases (Oracle and/or MySQL) • Ability to interact with and effectively present information to peers, management and customers. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners and government officials
Skills Preferred:
Additional education and skills that will further contribute to your success include: • Linux+ or a RHCE/RHCA training or certification • Docker compose, K8 or Openshift experience • Degree in an IT, Information Systems, Engineering, Science or similar technical discipline is preferred • Formal training/coursework
Experience Required:
Success in this position requires: • Experience hardening systems in accordance with DISA’s Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) • Experience with Linux scripting languages to automate tasks using Ansible or similar tools • Experience planning and deploying complex toolsets on top of the Linux platform • Experience with Gitlab, Git, and Gitlab workers, and configuring Gitlab pipelines • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Docker and Docker containers
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and at least 6 years of position related work experience; OR equivalent position related work experience.
