Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
- Follow recipes and menu specifications to ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes
- Cook and plate food items according to established standards and recipes
- Ensure food is cooked and served at the correct temperature
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of food and equipment
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen
Skills:
- Menu planning: Ability to assist in creating menus and selecting dishes for different occasions or dietary needs
- Catering: Experience in preparing food for large events or gatherings
- Food industry knowledge: Understanding of industry trends, best practices, and safety regulations
- Food safety: Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Knife skills: Proficiency in using knives for various food preparation tasks
- Dietary aide: Familiarity with dietary restrictions or special diets, such as vegetarian or gluten-free
- Food preparation: Ability to prepare a variety of ingredients and follow recipes accurately
- Cooking skills: Proficiency in cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, baking, etc.
- Food handling: Understanding of safe food handling practices to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety
- Team player: Willingness to collaborate with other kitchen staff and assist where needed
