Introduction

Prince William Public Libraries is looking for an energetic, adaptable, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Page. We are seeking an individual who can work both independently and as part of a team to ensure materials are accurately shelved and are easily accessible for patrons and staff. The Library Page position is physical in nature and may require long periods of standing, stooping, bending, and transporting large quantities of library materials up to 20 lbs. and pushing wheeled book carts. A Library Page is one of the most vital positions in the library system and can be your gateway into a successful career in library services.
This position is located at Montclair Library in Dumfries, Virginia.
About This Role:
Shelve materials in alphabetical and numerical order according to the Dewey Decimal System.
Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons with locating materials and information.
Perform administrative tasks including processing materials and generating basic reports.
Maintain the appearance of the branch collection with accuracy and neatness.
Perform opening and closing procedures by unpacking/packing materials for delivery.
Attend training and assist with the training of new staff.
Create displays, assist with programs, and participate in community outreach and special events.
Minimum Requirements:
8th grade education. Must be at least 16 years old.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
Ability to accurately file materials both alphabetically and numerically.
Flexibility in scheduling.
Knowledge of applications in Office 365 including Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
Experience working in a customer service field.
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, non-exempt 20 hour a week position which includes days, evenings, and weekend hours. Scheduling flexibility is imperative. The work schedules vary depending on the needs of the building. Montclair Library’s current hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
Starting Salary Range: $17.55
