Library Assistant 3

High school diploma or GED. Two years of experience in library work, customer service, public contact or related field are required.

This position involves advanced supervisory paraprofessional library work. Under the direction of a library professional, the incumbent in this position will be tasked with performing reference, circulation, children’s work, providing customer service, reconciling financial transactions, processing library materials, promoting library programs and services, performing outreach and branch programs, assisting in a specialized area of library service, and may serve as the library branch supervisor in the manager’s absence.
This position entails working with considerable independence within the scope of established library policies and procedures. This position may require supervision to be exercised over subordinate nonprofessional staff members engaged in various phases of library work. The incumbent in this position will receive supervision from a professional or other superior who assigns duties and reviews work for achievement of objectives. At times, this position may require incumbents to work nights and weekends.
