Job Summary: As the Safety Coordinator, your role is to create and oversee health and safety guidelines at BNA and MHE sites. You should implement the best industry standards and take into account the specific risks present in your workplace to ensure that all work activities are carried out safely.
Job Duties:
· Conducts accident investigations (Interviews injured employees and witnesses, inspects the facilities and equipment involved, suggests corrective or preventative actions) and follows up to ensure the corrective or preventive actions have been implemented.
· Asses operational methods to ensure safety is a top priority, recommend improvements and/or training to management at KBNA and MHE sites.
· Travel to MHE sites, conduct safety audits/observations and report the findings and recommendations to the Regional Safety Manager and operations management team for any needed corrective or preventative actions.
· Ensures management is aware of applicable laws and industry best practices. Identify potential hazards and follow up to ensure their reduction/elimination.
· Takes primary ownership of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, which includes Hazard Identification and Elimination, Walking-Working Surfaces Risk Assessment, PPE Assessment, 5S, and Clean-Up Program.
· Ensures the information provided from the Snapshot and Near Miss Program will be used to track the performance of Supervision but will also be used to identify potential hazards in the work areas and develop safety bulletins, safety briefings, and training programs.
· Constantly reinforces proper ergonomics to minimize injuries and stricter adherence to appropriate PPE.
· Lead the Behavior Based Safety Program, which includes safety observations, positive reinforcement, feedback mechanisms, and recognition through intangible rewards. Trains and coaches the maintenance leadership team in identifying and addressing risky behaviors.
· Update safety programs and policies to OSHA standards, maintain OSHA Logs, and coordinate safety communications, updates, and training for employees. Recommends regular safety tips and talks to management for staff meetings.
· Collaborate with Human Resources to assist with workers' compensation tasks, such as partnering with occupational healthcare facilities and returning to work with modifications.
· Coordinates safety communications, provides safety recommendations and delivers safety toolbox talks to management and staff.
Job Requirements:
· Able to work multiple shifts (Day or night) schedules as needed.
· One to two years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of maintenance and material handling equipment safety procedures.
· Travel 30-50% to the MHE sites.
· Preferably with knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, FAA, FAR, DOT, CFR 40 & CFR 49, and applicable sections of the state regulations.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· The ability to always represent the company in a professional manner.
· Must have basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn relevant company software programs.
