Work Environment: BCL of Texas is headquartered in Austin, with additional offices in Dallas and San Marcos, Texas.
- The Position will be located within DFW metroplex or Austin‐Round Rock‐ San Marcos MSA.
- A remote flexible schedule is available, if located further than 10 miles from one of our offices.
Compensation and Benefits: BCL offers a competitive annual salary of $52,000 – $ 62,000 (DOE) plus benefits:

Position Summary: The Loan Servicing Specialist will assist in the overall loan portfolio management functions of the organization’s portfolio of small business, consumer, and mortgage loans administered by BCL of Texas. The Loan Servicing Specialist will assist in a range of lending activities — including loan department reports, loan payments, loan closing, funding disbursement, various aspects of monitoring, and servicing loans.

Requirements:
- Five+ years’ professional experience in consumer lending, credit union, banking, CDFI environment, or other customer service focused environment; experience with loan processing, funding, and strong administrative skills preferred.
- Undergraduate degree with a major in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field a plus.
- Experience with loan documentation, specifically for loans secured by UCC Filing or Deed of Trust preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: The position does not require any licenses or certifications at time of hire.
- Mortgage Loan Originator licenses for Texas through NMLS (BCL sponsored) is preferred.
- Notary Public for Texas (BCL sponsored) is preferred.
Travel: Periodic travel to company events, borrower site visits, and the different BCL offices will be required.
Direct / Indirect Reports: None, this is a non-supervisory role.
Authorities:
- Draft Loan Fundings; disburse loan proceeds through finance per specified process/parameters.
- Draft Loan modifications; waive late payment fees, reduce fees when deemed appropriate.
Primary Tasks: Program Management
- Assists with the administration of specific portfolio lending programs including but not limited to reporting, tracking, and maintenance of data as required.
- Represent BCL in public events, meetings, or presentations.
- Collaborate with other BCL business units to streamline systems and processes.
- Assist in creating or delivering training to new staff members as appropriate.
- Participate fully with all members of the BCL team.
- Contribute to the body of knowledge, sharing best practices and suggest process improvement ideas.
Primary Tasks: Loan Processing
- Assist with regular quality control checks of all assigned loan files to ensure completeness and compliance prior to, during, and after the closing and funding of the loan.
- Review and reconcile loan payments and categorize them as interest, principal, or fees.
- Collect, review, and process due diligence documentation and ensure compliance with funding and loan conditions.
- Process lien releases and reconveyances of collateral as required.
- Coordinate with Finance to enter receipts into the loan system.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reports that include but are not limited to quarterly status and interim financial reports, construction to permanent loan conversions, loan payment delinquency, payment error, maturity dates.
- Gathers and analyzes borrower financial data to evaluate risk.
- Assist with monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on monthly draw requests from construction loan borrowers. This work may include review of borrower and architect certifications, invoice back-up, lien waivers, and title updates.
- Assist with review of loan disbursement authorization with approved amounts, authorized accounts, payments made by borrower and loan number.
- Assist with preparation of reconciliation of loan fund balances monthly.
- Assist management on loan department reports and projects.
Primary Tasks: Loan Monitoring/Servicing
- Administers and manages duties under loan servicing activities to ensure procedures are properly and efficiently carried out.
- Work with loan officers, asset managers and finance to review and process loan transactions, including regular loan disbursement requests, vendor payments and other miscellaneous transactions as required under the project.
- Assist loan officers and asset managers with construction loan budget management, prepare and process related disbursement.
- Assist asset managers with collection of reporting or other loan/project related items.
- Update loan information and systems/records as necessary under the loan to reflect modifications, relevant transactions, status changes and repayments.
- Review and manage ongoing insurance requirements.
- Support other servicing needs and projects, as necessary.
Primary Tasks: Loan Closing
- Manages and assists with collecting, preparing, reviewing and processing loan forms and documents (checklists, statements, documents, etc.) during the closing process.
- Serves as point of contact to loan officers, borrowers and external partners.
- Enters, reviews and/or maintains loan data systems.
- Reviews loan documents to ensure accurate implementation of key loan terms per the loan approval and closing process.
- Reviews insurance policies to ensure compliance with the Loan Fund’s Lending Standards and Guidelines.
- Prepares and maintains loan closing checklists; works with Legal and loan officers to ensure all loan closing conditions have been met and approved by appropriate/authorized parties.
- Works with the Finance and Capital Management staff to set up new loans and programs in the Loan Fund’s lending databases.
- Coordinates funds for disbursement required at loan closing as well as related third-party payments.
- Ensure loan records, systems and tasks are complete for loan closings.
Primary Tasks: Consumer Team
- Adhere to all federal and state consumer compliance guidelines and internal procedures.
- Utilize BCL database platforms for loan management including ensuring quality control and high levels of accuracy and integrity.
- Contribute to developing and documenting consumer department procedures and processes.
- Collaborate to streamline systems and processes.
- Manage special projects in consultation with members of the consumer team.
- Build and strengthen working relationships with partners and vendors.
