Responsibilities:
- Opening office in the morning
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs
- File and organize legal documents and correspondence
- Draft and proofread legal correspondence and routine documents
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings
- Answer phone calls and take messages with proper phone etiquette, including responding to client inquiries about routine matters such as court dates and the statuses of pending matters
- Maintain confidentiality of client information
- Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and faxing
- Receiving payments and entering them into bookkeeping systems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Associate's degree or equivalent certificate preferred.
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and communicating with clients and colleagues
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
