SalaryFast growing general liability and medical malpractice defense firm is seeking a qualified Legal Assistant/Paralegal for a full-time position in our Melville office. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
Job Duties:
- Providing legal support for at least three attorneys.
- Drafting, formatting and service of correspondence and legal documents, including answers, third-party complaints, discovery demand and responses, motions etc.
- Filing legal documents with the court.
- Processing HIPAA-compliant authorizations and obtaining medical records via various third-party record retrieval companies.
- Proofreading and formatting reports to insurance carriers.
- Coordinating all aspects of independent medical examinations.
- Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation electronically.
- Responding to inquiries from and interact with clients, counsel and witnesses.
- Recording billable hours.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal is a must.
- Experience with electronic court systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and complete tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work efficiently with others while independently managing workload.
- Must possess a positive attitude and be personally motivated to succeed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
