About the opportunity:
Mathematica's Human Resources department is seeking a Leave Management Specialist to support and administer leave requests under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), parental leave, personal leave, workers-compensation, short-term or long-term disability plans in conjunction with state and local leave laws.
Responsibilities:
- Manages HR Benefits Mailbox and responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on leave and disability
- Provides staff guidance regarding coordination of benefits, eligibility notices, timesheets, PTO, benefit deductions, and parental leave
- Maintains leave related internal guidance documents
- Completes data entry for all leave related absences
- Provides leave reporting to the payroll team on a semi-monthly cadence and ad-hoc leave reporting
- Grants permissions to leave restricted timesheet codes
- Plans, executes, and coordinates communication for leave law changes
- Administers Parental Leave and Adoption benefit programs
- Conducts bi-weekly claim review calls with The Hartford to manage the Leave Management partnership and act as an employee advocate for any claim issues
- Identify and track claim related issues
- Actively support the advancement of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and apply diversity, equity, and inclusion lens across job responsibilities.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related degree (or equivalent experience)
- Three plus years’ experience in Leave Management administration
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Working understanding of human resource and employee benefit principles, practices, and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate complex information in simple terms with all levels of employees and vendors
- Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines
- The ability to manage work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, and juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
