Full-Time, Exempt
The Leader, Product Owner, Core Products, is a critical role responsible for maximizing the value of MVP's Digital investments by creating agile development plans that focus on delivering the highest value work in the shortest possible time with the least amount of effort. The specific focus of this position is on development of products that maximize the efficiency of MVP's core claims adjudication and care management systems. The success of this role depends on the ability to foster high levels of collaboration, the ability to negotiate requirements with stakeholders, and the ability to lead colleagues through the process of decomposing projects into actionable features and stories.
Specifically, the Leader manages scrum team members including software and quality engineers. The Leader is responsible for creating and managing the backlog to coordinate consistent releases and maintain up-to-date prioritized execution plans that inform road maps. This may include management of external scrum teams.
The Leader is responsible for balancing the need to architect new solutions in a manner that maximizes the long-term viability of the work, while also recognizing the need to execute and maximize ROI. To that end, the Leader must be adept at communicating not only with scrum-team members, but also with constituents across the organization.
The Leader will manage software engineers and quality engineers as part of her or his role. He or she will be responsible for developing the team's capabilities so that its members become more adept at executing on complex software development projects.

  • Collaborate with product/platform managers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate long-term product vision into actionable delivery plans.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to refine and prioritize features and stories.
  • Ensure communication of sprint plans and release plans to broader audiences.
  • Manage the work performed by development teams to ensure quality and timeliness of their work.
  • Develop and mentor software and quality engineers to advance their skills across domains relevant to MVP.
  • Drive and maintain uncompromised product quality standards.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science preferred; but not necessary if candidate has substantial work experience in IT, software development, informatics, or health insurance.
Minimum Experience:
5 years of software development, product or project management experience in a technology development environment. Experience managing personnel in that environment is useful.
Required Skills:
Office 365, basic programming, agile software development, project management.
