Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Lead Lifeguard is to provide immediate supervision needed to ensure a safe and secure experience for guests that utilize swimming pools at The Venetian Resort.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety–related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of aquatics safety staff as well as performs duties of lifeguard to preserve the general safety of property guests, Team Members, and physical assets associated with swimming pool usage.
  • Supports a positive recreation environment and appropriate Team Member behavior; ensures consistent enforcement of rules and policies.
  • Monitors pool operations to ensure adherence to safety and water quality rules and regulations; ensures that facility and equipment are clean and in safe operating condition.
  • Leads the work and activities of aquatics safety staff; prioritizes and assigns tasks; may assist in scheduling, training, conducting in-services and monitoring the work of lifeguards; assures that all safety rules and regulations are observed.
  • Trains lifeguards in work and safety procedures and the proper maintenance of the facility and equipment; completes in-service training as required.
  • May provide input to Manager – Security Aquatics Safety on the performance of aquatics staff in order to correct performance deficiencies and staffing recommendations.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • May assist in the hiring process, interviewing applicants and assisting with job fairs.
  • Ensures required staff certifications are current; ensures that all rules and regulations as set forth by City, County and State Health Department are followed.
  • Enforces policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of swimming pool guests.
  • Monitors activities in the water and on swimming pool decks for compliance to rules and to identify individuals who may need assistance or guidance; enters the water to rescue patrons in distress; resuscitates rescued swimmers; administers first aid to the injured; calls Emergency Medical Services (EMS) when required; reports accidents/incidents to manager and completes reports as necessary
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

All Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Red Cross Certified in CPR/First aid and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 2 years of experience as a lifeguard.
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency medical service delivery as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices for planning and management of aquatics safety programs; laws, ordinances, policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of aquatics venues, programs and equipment; purpose, use and benefits of aquatics recreational activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
