Position Overview

Navistar is seeking a Lead Instructional Designer. This is a Fully Remote role.

Navistar is investing in the future through the creation of Navistar University -- the internal learning and development function sitting within People & Culture (human resources). The passion of Navistar University is to create modern training solutions and learning experiences. To deliver these creative learning solutions and experiences, we are searching for an experienced and talented Instructional Designer

 

Our ideal candidate will have experience and expert proficiency in designing and building learning experiences for all modalities: onsite instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, hybrid learning, blended learning, and eLearning. We are looking for candidates who have a professional passion to create learning experiences that engages learners of all styles, promote learning and retention, and leaves the learners craving more knowledge. Responsibilities
  • Possess the expertise and knowledge necessary to design and build effective training programs aligned with the organization's learning goals and driving results. 
  • As an Instructional Designer, you will work with other members of Navistar University, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to analyze training needs, design training programs, and develop training materials that meet the needs of the business and appeal to all learning styles.
  • Create new learning experiences, update or maintain existing curriculum, and constantly innovate the way we learn at Navistar. Design and build learning experiences that learners will talk about!
  • Collaborate with Navistar University team members, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to determine desired outcome, create a plan, and deliver
  • Understand business needs, opportunities to close knowledge gaps, drive learner success, and propel Navistar toward our 2030 goals
  • Following the ADDIE process, drive the Design & Develop phases while staying informed on the Assess, Implement, and Evaluate phases
  • Stay up to date on new training methodologies, educational technologies and tools, and industry best practices
  • Manage multiple learning projects simultaneously
  • Design and present learning plans based on business and stakeholder needs with recommendations for instruction methodologies, activities, and industry leading content delivery
  • Develop approved learning materials including, but not limited to, facilitator guides, visual presentations (virtual and face-to-face delivery), supporting materials, job aids, video scripts and editing, and elearning modules

 

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 8 years of learning/development experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • Master's degree

  • At least 6 years of learning/development experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • At least 10 years of learning/development experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience
Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
  • Mastery of instructional design principles, training techniques, and adult learning theories with proven experience in designing and developing learning solutions and experiences including the development of material for multiple delivery modalities 
  • Expert proficiency and creative savvy in authoring tools such as Articulate, Adobe, Camtasia, Microsoft Office 365, and other similar tools
  • Expert writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Keen sense of attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality product
  • Up to date knowledge and experience applying industry trends and best practices, new training methodologies, authoring tools, delivery methods, and content
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in instructional design, learning and development, education, or another related field.
