Job Description

As the Senior Instructional Designer, you will provide effective educational consulting and design assistance to Keypath Education’s University partners. You will work with academics and subject matter experts in the development and revision of online courses and programs. You will serve as the primary contact for program leadership at the University and will help to guide the instructional design standards and frameworks for the internal team dedicated to the university program. This role may have direct and indirect managerial responsibilities of Keypath team members.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Instructional Designer:

Working in coordination with the Director of Instructional Design, the Senior ID will assume responsibility for the following:

• Oversee the design and revision of online courses for partner universities.
• Set development standards which ensure that online courses:
  • are organized effectively and align learning objectives with assessment, practice, and instruction.
  • promote interaction, social presence, and community among students and between students and faculty.
  • incorporate authentic learning assignments and assessments that encourage critical thinking skills and self-directed learning.
  • highly interactive and academically rigorous.
• Assist faculty with design and redesign of courses for online delivery, including the storyboarding of interactive learning objects.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between program leadership at the university partner and the Keypath course development team.
• Ensure courses are designed on time, on budget, and according to specifications.
• Develop faculty training and student orientation materials.
• Oversee the process of continual improvement for partner programs. 
• Provide leadership, instructional design advice, and coaching to other Instructional Designers, faculty, and web developers.
• Support the business units in the escalation and proactive resolution of course development issues.
• Assist Director of Instructional Design in the realizing of course development initiatives.
• Support new program launches and attend Partner Course Development Workshops as needed.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of materials for the Course Development Workshop.
• Oversee the work of a small team of Instructional Designers.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree, preferred.  Ideally this degree will be in or related to education, curriculum, and instruction, learning systems, adult learning or instructional design. 

General Requirements:

• 3+ years of instructional design and/or curriculum development experience; preferably for online environments
• Strong project management skills
  • comfortable working within project management applications
  • ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines
• Interested internal applicants must have been in a shadowing SID role for 6 months to a year
• Excellent people/interpersonal and teambuilding skills; ability to influence and lead peers and external partners
• Prior supervisory experience managing internal and external relationships to achieve goals, meet deadlines, and support company initiatives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a multi-tasking entrepreneurial environment, exceptionally strong attention to detail
• Creative, flexible, and innovative in course design
• Experience conducting training sessions for both small and large groups
• Ability to travel to client partner sites if necessary.

Technical Requirements:

• Advanced knowledge of educational technology, adult learning principles, constructivism, facilitation, and learner-centered activities
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Limited experience with the Adobe Suite, including Dreamweaver, and HTML editors, such as Sublime.
• Experience with Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, D2L or similar learning management systems (LMS)

As the ideal candidate you'll have:

• Exposure to and understanding of the post-secondary education sector is highly preferred
• 3+ years in higher education (strongly preferred)
• 2+ years of teaching experience, online classroom experience (strongly preferred)
• Some experience and knowledge of basic CSS and HTML (preferred)
