General Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Director, Chassis Engineering, this role will work is responsible for the design and release of our Brake System components, working with our engineering partners and component suppliers to lead the design, sourcing, development, validation, and production launch of the Chassis Brakes components for EV vehicles. This role requires outstanding skills in leadership, analysis, critical thinking, conflict management, and risk management.
The Lead Engineer will work across the organization and with our engineering partner and component suppliers to ensure upstream and downstream impacts are identified, communicated, and aligned. This role requires exceptional communication and organizational skills.
A successful candidate needs to thrive in a pressurized environment using data and facts to help identify risks, manage resources, and solve problems quickly and effectively. A strong team ethic with the ability to interact at all levels and across business boundaries is required to be successful in this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Act as the key point of contact for Chassis Brake Systems within the Fisker organization.
Lead Product Design and Development teams for Chassis Brake Systems.
Define performance targets for Chassis Brake Systems working with Fisker’s Attribute Expert for Vehicle Dynamics and Brake Systems.
Responsible for Business and Technical target setting and monitoring.
Responsible for program metrics generation, including component weight, timing, delivery status, and cost status.
Identify design, development, and validation disconnects and proactively identify and implement all required resolution activities.
Perform DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Benchmarking and DVP&R for automotive systems.
Proficient with using Team Center and CATIA (or equivalent) and knowledgeable of using JIRA, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
Work with Purchasing on new supplier engagement and capability assessments.
Material and process assessments.
Participate in the creation of validation test plans and ensure US, EU, and China regulatory compliance.
Participate in production launch and quality issue resolution activities and implement corrective actions.
Support other Fisker Lead Chassis Engineers with their subsystems. May be asked to lead other Chassis subsystems if work balancing is needed. Therefore, overall Chassis knowledge is a plus.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. Master of Science is preferred.
8 to 11 years of relevant professional experience in Chassis Brake Systems design and development in the Automotive industry.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies
Experience with ESP / IBOOSTER, OPD Brake Systems, Regenerative braking, and integration.
Experience with foundation brakes and performance.
Experience with CAD systems, including 2D drawing, 3D models, and GD&T. CATIA V5 / V6 is preferred.
Experience with FEA analysis methodology, interpreting the analysis results for design change improvement.
Experience with structural component machining and manufacturing processes, including casting, stamping, extrusion, welding, etc.
Vehicle launch experience.
Familiarity with US, EU, and China vehicle regulations.
Deep curiosity to understand the product and direct competitors.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with the engineering partners, component suppliers, and intraorganizational customers.
High level of attention to detail.
Exceptional communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Additional Requirements
Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Expected Salary Range
$114,345.00 to $167,853.00 per year.
Additional Compensation
Salary is one part of total compensation, which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits.
An employee is eligible to participate in Fisker’s equity program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
