Are you ready for a thrilling summer adventure? Join our team as the Lead Camp Counselor and be the heart of the action under the direct supervision of the Youth Development Manager. Your mission: Make every day unforgettable for campers and create lasting memories in the great outdoors as well as ensuring a safe environment. As the lead, you'll not only guide and inspire campers but also manage a team of Junior Counselors, ensuring everyone has the best summer ever!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform these essential duties satisfactorily:

• Create and maintain meaningful connections with campers and parents.
• Be the ultimate role model for camper behavior as well as Junior Counselors.
• Help prepare, open & close the yurts for the day as well as greet campers and parents.
• Maintain a safe and enriching environment at Camp Big Sky.
• Take responsibility for Junior Counselors.
• Check in with the Youth Development Manager for additional daily tasks.
• Help prepare and administer morning and afternoon snacks.
• Help lead educational outdoor programming.
• Communicate with the Youth Development Manager present about any issues with campers.
• Direct parents to the appropriate director for any billing/registration issues.
• Have an amazing summer in the outdoors while making a huge impact on the lives of others.

PREFERRED EDUCATION | EXPEREINCE | CERTIFICATIONS

• Prefer prior experience working at a camp.
• Prefer professional teaching certification or experience in youth sport activities.
• Prefer prior First Aid, CPR, Lifeguard, WFR, or WEMT certification/training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Adaptability: Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions—be prepared for anything!
• Strength: Lift up to 100 pounds with ease and be ready for moderately noisy environments.
• Communication: Listen, understand, and talk in the language of adventure—English.
• Activity Level: Very active! Be on your feet, run, walk, and occasionally sit throughout the workday.

BACKGROUND

• At least 18 years of age.
• Background check required.
• Experience working with children either babysitting or working with elderly.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to manage groups of children.
• Knowledge of and willingness to participate in camp games, activities, crafts, and

sports.

• Ability to confidently manage camper behavior.
• Receive and be receptive to First Aid and CPR training.
• Ability to spend all day outside in community parks and wilderness environments.
• Be a competent team member of Camp staff.
