Job Description
General Summary:
The Epic Security Access Team Lead is responsible for Epic user records, provider records, security classes creation, and provider/patient groups administration. This includes the life cycle management of the records and auditing as appropriate. Monitors and assesses staffing and training needs for the team. Engages in process improvement projects to improve efficiency and accuracy of work performed and other security related activities, as appropriate, to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of electronic information. The Epic Security Access Team Lead will also focus on supporting key projects and initiatives of the team. The Team Lead collaborates with employees and will be the first line point of contact with leaders across Lurie Children's, and our partners and affiliates The IM Epic Team Lead is responsible for the supervision of day-to-day operations of the Epic Security Access Team, comprised of Epic Security and Schedulable Epic Resources analysts. The Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for managing escalations, providing problem resolution, managing workload distribution for the team. Oversees and ensures the assessment and resolution of Epic user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. The Team Lead may provide training and share knowledge with less experienced analysts, assisting in the growth of the individuals and the team.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Leads overall IM Epic Security team efforts in the completion of projects, tasks, and responsibilities, including supervision of daily activities.
  • Contributes and maintains all processes and tools for the Epic Security Team
  • Supervise and control resources effectively to maximize productivity and quality level.
  • Coordinates and facilitates problem resolution sessions where multiple departments and/or service areas are involved.
  • Participate in other department or organizational project security/access tasks as required.
  • Analyze and respond to business problems and escalations when necessary.
  • Provide on call support for production and non-production security / access issues.
  • Assist with timekeeping and time off requests for the team.
  • Investigates potential security incidents, engages process partners as required
  • Facilitate/Participate in internal and external audit activities, maintains documentation for future audits.
  • Provides consultation on the impact to current state and make recommendations to future state process.
  • Manage Epic Vendor User Agreements for Applications
  • Ensure all evidence of authorization is documented and archived according to internal standards.
  • Enforce organizational policies and procedures to ensure only authorized personnel have access to information in compliance with the Minimum Necessary Rules.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Generate Reporting Workbench and ad-hoc reports to perform in-depth analysis and data collection for issues associated with Epic software.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Technology/Computer Science or other field of study relevant to the job. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience is directly related to the functions of the job. Five (5) or more years of Electronic Health Record experience preferred.
  • Experience working with role-based access and application access controls required. Experience working with application access controls in a healthcare setting (e.g., Epic) is desired.
  • Experience working with an Identity Governance Administration platform (e.g., Savyint, SailPoint) is desired.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and participating in troubleshooting, managing, and solving issues related to systems, access, accounts, authentication, authorization, entitlements, and permissions.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through on assignments.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a receptive and tactful manner.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, while providing timely and responsive services are key to this position.
  • Strong time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and oral) are critical for success in this position.

Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology (Required)
