Required Skills:
- Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge oflegal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. Role also requires hands-on familiarity with Client tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including experience working with attorneys.
- Excellent research and writing skills, demonstrated experience working with complex statutory and finance regulation schemes, and flexibility and creativity in the application of existing policies.
- Some financial analyst experience preferred but not required.
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Performs complex legal research;
- Prepares presentation for senior/lead attorneys;
- Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as complaints and motions, draft discovery requests and analyze the responses, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.;
- Assists in reviewing documents for relevance and privilege;
- Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation;
- Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents;
- Summarizes depositions and other transcripts;
- Maintains case files;
- Performs legal research;
- Indexes, tracks and controls case materials.
