Position: Temporary Language Arts Teacher - 1.00 FTE
Position Summary:
The employee is primarily responsible for effective teaching and learning for the assigned subject(s) following district approved curriculum, instruction and assessment practices. Primary responsibility shall include student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student's readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare. In carrying out their responsibilities, teachers follow District policy and standard practices and administrative unit regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Oregon teaching license with endorsement in English Language Arts
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university, Master's preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Use of technology for learning management and instruction
- Must be highly qualified per ESSA
Experience
Experience in teaching preferred, but not required
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
- Teach English concepts and skills adopted by the District
- Create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning in a modern environment that allows for and fosters engaging dialogue
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for helping individual students to achieve educational growth
- Develop, plan, organize and maintain effective classroom management strategies in alignment with District and school site policies, guidelines and procedures
- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Develop and maintain an organized, orderly and clean classroom
- Utilize a variety of instructional approaches, visual aids and models to demonstrate and teach concepts
- Adapt the science curriculum, materials and methods to develop sequential assignments that guide, challenge and meet the needs of students.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Prepare student progress reports; consistently communicate student progress to students, parents, school counselors and site administration
- Make acceptable lesson plans, leave directions for substitutes and perform all other duties as required by the administration
Availability: 2/06/2023-6/18/2023 (87 days)
Salary: Annual Salary Range $22,707 - $44,007
(salary is prorated depending upon actual start date)
Initial placement based on education and experience.
$1,000 Professional Work Day Stipend
