Position: Language Arts Teacher

Hours:
7:30 am to 4:00 pm
Reports to: School Principal, Lents Campus

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for classroom instruction, curriculum development and program growth activities by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties:

•Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
•Establishes shared expectations with students regarding behaviors, norms and habits in the classroom.
•Plans and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
•Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning.

Job Duties:

•Evaluates student academic and social progress.
•Maintains accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law.
•Monitors the progress of individual students using school database system (Synergy).
•Works across all school sites to collaboratively develop a unique, engaging and rigorous curriculum.
•Develops and designs program features which will inspire students to develop new understandings about the interconnectedness between subject areas.
•Designs and adapts curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our student population.
•Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities.
•Develops auxiliary curriculum by working collaboratively with other teachers from across all school campuses.
•Confers with parents, guardians, caring adults as well as school community stakeholders regarding student progress and aid in the planning specific interventions.
•Performs the role of an advisor to a group of 15 students and helps to support individual student social and emotional growth and organizational skills.
•Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
•Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
•Respectfully takes direction from manager.
•Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related subject. Master’s degree, preferred. Experience working with high school youth in a school or community-based organization setting.
