Job Summary
· Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edging equipment.
· Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage.
· Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs.
Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
· Gather and remove litter.
· Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
· Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
· Trim and pick flowers, and clean flower beds.
· Water lawns, trees, and plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
· Maintain and repair tools, equipment
· Basic understanding or irrigation and lighting repairs
· Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, and other grounds features.
1. Daily preparation of trucks and equipment
- Report at designated start time to prepare/review the days schedule with the Operations Manager and prepare for the day.
- Load/fill gas cans, mowers, tools and necessary equipment. Secure all equipment.
- Check truck oil, fluids, tire pressure, proper trailer connection, and all lights are in working condition
Equipment requirements:
Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws, blowers and other 2-cycle engine equipment.
Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes. Haul or spread topsoil, and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
Performance skills and qualifications:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. plus
- Available to work a varied schedule (including Saturdays) in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
- Stoop, stand and bend for 10 hours or more a day.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good record REQUIRED.
- Drug free work environment.
- Carry 20lb. back pack blower on back.
- Walk 2 – 6 miles a day.
- Lift branches and limbs.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and equipment maintenance
Education/Experience:
High-school diploma is recommended for Landscape Technicians
Professional Landscape Certification preferred - PLANET
