Job Title: Land Management Forester - Southern Region
Overview:
Coastal Timberlands Company is seeking a highly motivated Land Management Forester to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forestry and natural resource management and will work under the guidance of a Regional Manager to support the implementation of sustainable Land Management practices.
Location: Based in Cairo, GA, with responsibilities in N. Florida, S. Georgia and Central Alabama
Job Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
Contractor Supervision
· Oversee Logging operations
· Oversee road maintenance and any other operations on company land
Property Line Maintenance:
· Paint and Post Property boundaries
· Locate and GPS property corners
Forest Inventory and Analysis:
· Conduct thorough forest inventories to assess tree species composition, age distribution, and overall health of the Southern Pine Lands.
· Utilize GPS and GIS software to analyze forest data and generate comprehensive inventory reports.
Timber Stand Improvement:
· Recommend and implement timber stand improvement plans to enhance the health and productivity of forest stands.
· Coordinate and oversee activities such as thinning, prescribed burns, and invasive species control to improve stand structure.
· Coordinate and oversee activities regarding all reforestation activities.
Fire Management:
· Develop and implement prescribed burn plans to maintain and restore natural fire regimes.
· Collaborate with fire management agencies and local authorities to ensure safe and effective controlled burns.
Regulatory Compliance:
· Stay informed about relevant federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to forestry and Land Management in the Region.
· Ensure all Land Management activities comply with environmental regulations and best management practices.
Stakeholder Engagement:
· Communicate effectively with Regional Manager, team members, and other stakeholders to address concerns, provide education, and foster positive relationships.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree or Associate’s with experience in forestry, natural resource management, or a related field is preferred
· Proven experience in Land Management, with a focus on Southern Pine Lands, is a plus.
· Strong knowledge of forestry techniques and GIS.
· Familiarity with prescribed fire practices.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and best management practices.
· A willingness to occasionally travel for 2-3 days at a time.
