Description:
The Laboratory Technician will be hired on and going through several months of training which will include assay testing, QC testing and site safety training. Site training could be 2-3 weeks before moving into Method Training. When the Technician comes in for their shift they will interact with the previous shift on what is priority for that day. From there, the leads and supervisors will schedule testing out for everyone for that day. This individual will be conducting HPLC testing, GC testing, and wet chemistry work including checks for appearance, pH, density and eventually ICP-MS testing for sodium.
This position supports testing a wide range of biological, chemical and/or physical analyses on pharmaceutical products biologics and drugs through all stages of the manufacturing process. This ranges from incoming raw materials to finished goods and may include environmental monitoring programs. The Laboratory Technician may be applicable to QC Analytical or Microbiological testing Compliance QCMIS or Laboratory Operations.
Identified responsibilities include:
- General laboratory housekeeping
- Cleaning of laboratory glassware and equipment
- Preparation of material for sterilization in the QC Laboratory Autoclave
- Operation of equipment preparation and cleaning systems in QC e.g. QC Laboratory Autoclaves QC glasswashers
- Maintenance and stocking of departmental consumable inventory
- Routine verification of operating parameters of temperature controlled units
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of temperature controlled units
- Set-up and disinfection of media supplies and equipment needed for testing
- Perform sampling of critical utilities systems e.g. water air alcohol
- Perform non-batch release testing e.g. raw materials environmental monitoring
- Assist in filling and archiving of departmental data binders reports investigations etc
- Assist in retrieval of samples from manufacturing areas to the QC Laboratory for testing
- Maintenance and disposal of waste generated throughout the laboratory
- Retrieves and receives all samples into the QC Laboratories
- Logs samples into logbooks
- Receives samples into LIMS EBM and/or JDE. Aliquots samples
- Stores and organizes samples in appropriate Controlled Temperature Units/Environmental Chambers
- Enter data into LIMS
- Initiate and pull Stability Studies / Samples
Laboratory Operations:
- Support laboratory operations through sample control equipment metrology data reconciliation/ archiving or computerized system programming and support
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion
- Must communicate effectively verbal and written with supervisors and peers
- Knowledge of most laboratory equipment including but not limited to autoclaves incubators and analytical equipment
- Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions and have good verbal/written communication skills
- Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures
- Good computer skills knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint

- May lift push pull and carry up to approximately 25 lbs
- May work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head face hands feet and body
- This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas
- In general the position requires a combination of sedentary work standing work and walking around observing conditions in the facility

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Open to entry level Chemistry or Biochemistry graduates who have internship or research experience
- Ideally looking for 1+ year of laboratory testing experience including HPLC, GC, Wet chemistry and compendial raw material testing maintenance of associated assay equipment and reconciliation of test results
