Summary
In this position you will be responsible for the accessioning and performance of blood, cell pellet, and tissue processing within our Bio Sample and Pre-Analytical Units utilizing the latest technologies.
Responsibilities

• Perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining utilizing standard protocols and instrumentation
• Differentiation of acceptable / unacceptable staining of control slides
• Process cell pellets and blood samples for advanced testing methodologies
• Accession sample information into a Laboratory Information System
• Retrieve / Store / Ship samples electronically and at appropriate temperature
• Collaborate with internal/external scientists in the troubleshooting of protocols and staining issues
• Execute, and/or validate new procedures and techniques
• Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting equipment/instrumentation
• Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.
• Manage inventory levels and supply ordering
• Ability to utilize a laboratory information management system (LIMs, MS Office, Excel)
• Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies (GCP, CAP/CLIA, ISO) and document all quality control activities with the ability to recognize outliers and correct

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university in the Biological Sciences, including but not limited to, Medical, Pharmaceutical or Biomedical laboratory technology, or Biochemistry. Preferred: HT / HTL (ASCP) or similar accreditation

Qualifications

• Hands on experience as a histology technician, a plus
• Previous experience in a laboratory is a plus; experience working in a CRO environment would be beneficial, but not required
• Essential that the applicant possess a precise detail-orientated mind that can function in a team environment, as well as, independently of direct supervision
• Fluent with computer programs, such as, Word, Excel, and databases and are willing to acquire new skills

Working Conditions

• 40 hours per week: Tuesday - Saturday schedule, 10am - 6pm, or Monday - Friday schedule, 10am - 6pm
