Laboratory Technical Support Specialists deliver high-quality, cost-effective technology solutions to Chevron's operations world-wide to help maintain well control, wellbore stability and long-term zonal isolation. With the most advanced lab equipment in the industry, our labs also support research and development for CO2 resistant cement in CCUS, evaluate new chemicals, and partner with industry groups (API) to develop new test methods for drilling fluids and cementing operations.
This position is for a laboratory specialist with a strong background in cement and drilling fluids lab testing.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Proven ability to work closely with other lab specialists to optimize cement and drilling fluid designs.
Conduct a variety of HTHP QA-QC tests on service partner cement and drilling fluid designs to support CTC drilling operations worldwide.
Operate HPHT cement and drilling fluids lab equipment in stand-alone situations.
Perform routine maintenance & calibrations on lab equipment to ensure reliable testing and data accuracy.
Maintain lab’s chemical database.
Working on-call flexible shifts (evening & daytime) covering weekends & holidays.
Demonstrate competence with cement lab testing to include thickening times, UCA Compressive Strengths, HPHT rheologies, fluid Loss, free fluid, static gel strength tests, shear bond, expansion-shrinkage, and cement stability testing.
Demonstrate competence with drilling fluids testing to include HPHT fluid loss, HPHT rheology, linear swell meter, mud chemistry, fluid compatibility testing, PPT-Slot testing, particle size analyzing, production screen testing, return permeability testing and breaker testing.
Communicate with subject matter experts to analyze field samples from various wells.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated lab and field experience in cement and drilling fluids labs testing (2 – 4 years)
Demonstrated experience with operating high pressure, high temperature lab equipment.
Demonstrated communicate effectively with subject matter experts to resolve problems with field operations.
Demonstrated capable of working with complex datasets in compressed timelines and delivering creative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree
Minimum of three years Project Management experience
Certification of training in drilling fluids and cement lab testing
Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
