Laboratory Intern

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Laboratory Intern to work at our Peoria clinic. The Laboratory intern performs clerical tasks, assists technologists, physicians, and clinical staff as requested. Applicants with 1-2 years of healthcare experience are preferred.

Essential Duties

1. Performs waived tests according to policies and procedures.
2. Assists MLT/MLS with high complexity daily testing duties, except for releasing results, according to established procedures and policies.
3. Receives, identifies, and labels specimens following quality assurance and safety policies.
4. Prepares specimens for off-site testing and research.
5. Assists APNs with Bone Marrow Biopsies and processes according to procedure.
6. Organizes and prioritizes multiple work and needs/duties.
7. Participates in proficiency testing.
8. Prepare and maintain laboratory solutions, reagents, and stains.
9. Cleans and maintains work area countertops work areas in the laboratory.
10. Work additional hours as requested.
11. Observe OSHA and any other regulatory policies and procedures.
12. Performs all other duties as requested or required.
