Labor/Union Relations Manager
The Labor/Union Relations Managerimplements and maintains all aspects of the ISS and Guckenheimer Labor Relations programs, policies, and procedures. They ensure steady labor-management relations, and they administer and manage the administration of all union labor contracts. They provide interpretation of labor contracts and oversee processes for review and resolution of the union grievance procedures and including mediations and arbitrations and advise all levels of management and the People & Culture team.

Key Accountabilities
- Administers and manages administration of all ISS and Guckenheimer labor contracts; provides interpretation of ongoing labor contract requirements and compliance and implantation of new contracts
- Advises managers and employees on sensitive labor and employee relations matters, including grievance and arbitration procedures, performance issues and disciplinary actions; advises and assists managers in identifying employee relations issues and determining appropriate course of action.
- Serves as union contact and participates in contract negotiations with recognized labor organizations.
- Maintains current knowledge of employee and Labor Relations trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes; conducts research necessary to support contract negotiations and employee relations. Uses appropriate negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and negotiate contracts consistent with the College’s mission, values and goals.
- Audit P@I HRIS and JDE accounting software for discrepancies in employee union data
- Facilitates on-going communication and working relationships with employee representative organizations including coordination of joint labor-management committees.
- Provides information, advice and assistance to the People & Culture department regarding the application of statutes, regulations, contracts and employee relations practices relating to their functional areas.
- Partner with Benefits and Compensation teams to address benefits and compression challenges driven from union benefits and rate changes
- Manages the process to investigate and respond to complaints from the Bureau of Labor or other agencies.
- May represent ISS arbitrations and Employment Relations Board hearings related to unfair labor practice complaints.
- Participates in the development and delivery of management training programs designed to advance management staff. Advises with the Commercial team on future account development from a Labor Relations impact
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- SHRM or HRCI Certification a plus
- 5+ years professional experience in Labor Relations and Human Resources
- Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate and build relationships with labor organizations interact with all levels within the organization
- Effective coaching and teaching skills with peers, individuals, and teams
- Ability to align with business strategy and overall company objectives for labor partnership
- Demonstrates good judgement and decision-making skills
- Maintain a positive attitude under pressure and motivate team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment

ISS offers full time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The annual salary range for this position is $13000 per year- $17000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills, and may vary from the range listed above.
