Job description

The Labor Market Analyst works under the general direction of the Labor Market Information Supervisor in the Occupational Employment Wage Statistics (OEWS) unit. This position is responsible for preparing, collecting, analyzing, assigning occupational codes, compiling, reviewing, editing and correcting the data for an assigned portion of the OEWS sample and meeting contractually required response rates for that portion. Makes contact with Delaware employers to collect occupational data. Analyzes the returned data to assign appropriate occupational classification and reviews wage data for accuracy using information from a variety of sources.

  • Collects accurate data and provides thorough analysis of industrial and occupational changes and trends in Delaware's Labor Market.

  • Provides Delaware Labor Market data and reports to administrators and planners in education and economic development and private employers.

  • Coordinates the dissemination of Labor Market information and related economic conditions by producing special data sets for educators, economic development personnel, government administrators and the general public.

  • Keeps abreast of developments and impending federal and state directives related to Labor Market trends, analysis techniques, and reporting requirements.

  • Compiles, reviews, and/or enters/updates data inputs into software systems.

  • Prepares weekly progress reports and other reports.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Labor Market Analyst
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Management, Computer Information Systems or related field.

OR

  • Six months experience in conducting studies such as evaluating operations, programs, services, policies and procedures to determine efficiency, effectiveness, whether goals and objectives are met and compliance with laws, rules, regulations, polices and procedures.
  • Six months experience in descriptive statistics such as the mean, median, mode or standard deviation.
  • Six months experience in narrative report writing.
  • Knowledge of inferential statistics such as correlation, t-tests, f-tests or analysis of variance.
  • Knowledge of using statistical software such as SPSS or SAS.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
