Lab Technician Iii

Volt is immediately hiring for a Lab Tech III in Livonia, Michigan, with a well-known industry leader. The person hired for the position of Laboratory Technician will support the team within the Automotive & Aerospace Solutions Division. The person will be responsible for completing laboratory tasks to support core lab activities such as product testing and customer support across several business groups within the division. These laboratory tasks will be predominantly composed of testing activities.
This is a first shift position.
As a Lab Tech III you will:

• Conduct complex tests with minimal supervision
• Report test results in a detailed manner and communicating these results to requestors
• Operate test equipment, including electro-mechanical test frames, analytical test equipment, and a variety of environmental chambers
• Operate power equipment such as band saws, drill press, and electric hand tools
• Organize laboratory including maintaining laboratory inventory, scheduling of tests and equipment usage
• Follow safety protocols and test methods with great attention to detail

This is a full time contingent opportunity.
Estimated Duration 24+ months.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum of one (1) year of Microsoft Word and Excel experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of three (3) years laboratory, manufacturing, or testing environment experience
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Mechanical aptitude – design and build simple fixtures and optimize test substrates
• Experience working with testing equipment
• Ability to communicate regularly and effectively on test results and observations
• Experience working with a diverse team
• Familiarity with 3M testing systems & Industry standards governing materials durability and performance
• Detail oriented
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Associates/Two Year Technical degree or higher from an accredited university
Pay Rate: $28.00-$29.00 hr.
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
