Join our Catalytic Converter (CAT) team in the role of Laboratory Technician. RAS is one of the largest buyers of catalytic converters and processors of catalytic de-canned material in the US. With a focus on sustainability over 100% of each CAT is recycled including the precious metals.
The Lab Technician supporting the CAT Lab is responsible to perform final sample preparation and XRF testing of catalytic converter substrates in a manufacturing setting including all related equipment, supplies, and materials maintenance. Additionally, the position will record the results of the testing within an internal Lab Management System and complete the dispositioning of completed samples. The position works closely with the Lab Manager and our operations staff to ensure materials controls and timeliness of lab production.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience within a manufacturing lab environment or hands on lean manufacturing background. Follow good manufacturing practices, record keeping and the ability to comprehend and follow complex SOP's and directions.
Key Duties: include, but are not limited to:
- Execute testing queue and coordinate materials.
- Run substrates through sample processing equipment. (IE: mill, splitter, ring puck grinder.)
- Maintain sample integrity. Follow written procedures – working towards continuous improvement.
- Maintain, calibrate, and run equipment and analytical instruments.
- Impute and organize analytical data into affiliating databases.
- Keep work areas clean and organized. Track and disposition completed sample inventory.
- Participate in project work.
- Follow safety policies and regulations including consistent use of PPE
- Associates Degree in chemistry, geology, process engineering or related field of study preferred
- Minimum 1 year in a laboratory tech or related role (ie process engineer, process chemist) in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with lab equipment including calibration and PM's. Knowledge of scales, sieves, mills, XRF, OR ICP-OES a plus.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
- Familiar with lab safety and best laboratory practices specifically, a quality system of controls for laboratories to ensure the uniformity, consistency, reliability, reproducibility, quality, and integrity of process
- Proficient in IT system knowledge; Microsoft Suite. Lab Management system experience a plus.
