Form of workJob Summary: Responsible for analyzing, evaluating and interpreting various specimens for the detection, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of medical conditions.Responsibilities* Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures. Perform specimen collection and other specimen handling duties as needed.* Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation including calibration, maintenance, quality assurance and troubleshooting.* Perform and analyze quality control procedures including daily testing, recording, problem resolution and compiling reports to assure accuracy of all results.* Review and verify the accuracy of tests results before entering in information system.* Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed in order to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.* Evaluate test results for accuracy, reportability and clinical significance and report accordingly.* Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.* Evaluate new methodologies and instrumentation under the guidance of the Section Chief and report findings and recommendations.* Assume supervisory responsibilities in absence of Department Head. Orient and train new employees/students.* Performs all other related duties as assigned.Specifications:MLT: An Associates degree in Medical lab Technology and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required.
RI License and ASCP/AMT is also required.MT: A Bachelors degree in Medical technology or Specific Science and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required.
