Lab Tech Supervisor Ii

SUMMARY:

Lab Tech Supervisor II is responsible for the inspection, assessment, verification/testing, and documentation of process and product quality on all plastic packaging development.  The Lab supervisor position will play a vital role in the TekniPlex production innovation effort. She/He will serve as a technical expert in material analysis and product performance testing and make valuable recommendations to the product development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise direct reports to ensure lab requests are processed timely with quality.
• Conduct analytical and product performance testing using available lab equipment within the GIC to support our product development, quality, and management teams.
• Interpret test data and results then issue analytical test reports to provide conclusions and recommendations.
• Understand the science behind each analytical equipment and operating system so you can troubleshoot common equipment issues.
• Conduct weekly scheduling meetings to communicate lab status and gather customer feedback.
• Supports business-specific projects when required such as safety, quality procedures, audits, etc.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:

• The supervisor must have very strong people skills and emotional intelligence.
• In-depth knowledge of analytical equipment (TGA, DSC, FTIR, Instron, MFI, GC-MS, OTR, WVTR, Polymer theology, etc.
• Knowledge of material science, especially polymer chemistry.
• Creative Problem solvers, have an intellectual curiosity, and thrive in ambiguity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong motivation and work ethic and the ability to work independently, ability to balance multiple projects and competing deadlines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 5 + years in an analytical lab or similar.
