Lab Assistant

The lab offers a wide range of analytical services for quality assurance and state compliance to uphold brands to the highest standards for premium products. ICAL prides itself on setting the standard for quality cannabis testing across California and Michigan. Additionally, ICAL is currently expanding its analytical services to the fields of environmental, water, food & beverage, nutraceutical, and agriculture testing. We’ll strive to set the same standard of excellence we’re known for across the entire analytical testing industry.

We are currently seeking a Lab Assistantto join our team in Jackson, Michigan! This employee will be scheduled for our evening shift, Monday through Friday, 1:30 PM - 10:00pm. Lab Assistants help our Technicians and Analysts with various prepping procedures for the numerous analytical tests we run in the lab in addition to routine laboratory upkeep. A successful candidate will excel in this position by displaying exceptional attention to detail skills as well as enthusiasm for hands on work. This position is our entry level role within our lab with no Bachelor's degree required! KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs sample homogenization of cannabis for all analytical testing.
• Learn and execute ICAL's established SOPs for homogenization and sanitation of lab equipment and testing materials.
• Clean and maintain lab and equipment, including but not limited to: incubators, laminar flow hood, fume hood, homogenizer, sonicators, microbiology medium prep, and autoclave.
• Dispose of analyzed samples and follow proper chemical waste procedures.
• Perform good laboratory practices.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment at all times (PPE).
• Organize laboratory supplies.
• Assist with inventory of samples and packaging.
• Personal drive and commitment to upkeep and improvement of the Customer Satisfaction at ICAL

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ideal candidate will be an analytical problem-solver who can cooperatively and effectively work with colleagues.
• Understands and follows verbal and written instructions; works independently in the absence of supervision.
• Able to work quickly, without error in a high-pressure environment with ever-changing deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and grow in the analytical chemistry field.
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with excellent computer, typing, and organizational abilities.
• Ability and willingness to multi-task, and the ability to prioritize and manage assignments.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work in a collaborative environment, must be a team player!
• Personal integrity, disciplined work ethic, organization skills, and motivation to work with a sense of urgency.
• Must be comfortable working with and around cannabis and hemp products.
• Must possess at least a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, and/or laboratory environment required.
• Previous experience working in the cannabis industry is preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 21 years old to comply with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency standards.
• Must not concurrently work in any other part of the cannabis industry.
