Kitchen & Event Manager

The Joyful Gourmet is an upscale kitchen and gift independent retail store located in Libertyville. We have a gorgeous demonstration kitchen where we host about 25 events per month. The range of events include hands-on cooking classes, high-end demonstration dinners, wine tastings, kids classes, private parties, corporate events, and more. Our typical event size is 14 guests, but we can accommodate up to 25 for special events.

The kitchen and Event Manager responsibilities include:

• work with owners on event plan for a month
• schedule chefs from our pool of 7-10 part time chefs
• set menus and participation plans with chefs
• assist with publishing events to our website
• sourcing of ingredients from our distributors & delivery services
• queuing up ingredients for chefs prior to events
• managing customer inquiries and scheduling for private events
• organization and routine tasks with kitchen space, equipment and inventory
• occasional assistance running events

Hours per week range from 20-35, and pay is very competitive - we pay well in exchange for great performance and exceptional customer service. We offer great flexibility as we have staff that can step in and help when needed. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed, but not frequently and based on your availability.

To excel at this job you need to be organized and great with people. We prefer candidates that have culinary experience but formal training or culinary work is not required - as long as you love cooking and enjoying great food. We will prioritize candidates that have prior experience in a similar role.
