Job Summary: The caregiver must be able to supervise and work creatively with children in a group setting before and after school. The caregiver is able to work collaboratively with the on-site director.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan daily activities for children 5-12 years, including arts and crafts, interest centers, largemotor/small muscle activities and snacks. (Paid 1 hr., 40 min. daily for planning time andsplit shift differential)
- Compile monthly calendar of events, copy and distribute to parents the first week of each month. Send a copy to the Director's office.
- Supervise caregivers.
- Greet children and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm each day.
- Assist in the implementation of daily activities for students.
- Promote feelings of trust and security in children.
- Visually supervise students.
- Interact with students positively while supporting their growth and development.
- Enforce program rules but leave issues of behavior management to the on-site director.
- Maintain a friendly rapport with parents and building staff.
- Take daily attendance of children, phone parent or guardian if a child is not in attendance when expected. Ensure that parents sign their child in/out of program daily.
- Keep an open line of communication with parents, staff and students at all times.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret program policies and procedures.
- Become familiar with emergency procedures and carry out necessary drills.
- Order supplies once a month through the main office.
- Maintain good communication with the School Age Child Care Director. Must notify the School Age Child Care Director of any changes within your program.
- Collaborate with parents and other staff to help the children control behavior by using a positive and consistent approach.
- Attend at least 16 hours of training/professional development each calendar year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- 60 college credit hours required with 12 credit hours being in an education/childcare field
- Child care background is preferred
- Must pass the State of Michigan Comprehensive Background Check
- Must meet minimum State Licensing Requirements
- CPR and First Aid Certified (we will provide)
- Work in a professional manner with caregivers and administrators.
- Be punctual and in attendance daily
- Must be able to effectively carry out all above mentioned job responsibilities
Working Conditions:
- $16.13 - $18.60/hour
- Actual work hours are 4.50. Paid for 6.25 hours/day for split shift differential and planning time.
- Must be able to work morning and after school care as well as half days and break camp.
- We offer 9 month and 12-month positions. (12-month positions work through the summer for Camp O' Fun.)
- M-F 7:00a-8:30a (9:05a on late-start Mondays)
- M-F 3:30p - 6:30p
