Cherry Creek is seeking an experienced, energetic and exceptionally organized Leader who possesses the intangible hospitality skills of communication, acute attention to detail, anticipation and problem resolution. The initial primary objective of the Director of Golf will be to develop a Team of Ladies and Gentlemen whom the Director will train to deliver enjoyable and memorable experiences for Cherry Creek Golf Club's guests.
This Director level position is responsible for leading Cherry Creek's Ladies and Gentlemen in the operational areas of Pro Shop, Outside Golf Services and Starters/Rangers. The Director of Golf must post, interview, select, train, schedule, oversee and (when necessary,) discipline the employees in His/Her department. These practices must be consistent with Cherry Creek Golf Club Gold Standards along with the appropriate Human Resources policies and procedures, utilizing the tools and processes deemed essential by Club ownership.
The Director of Golf reports to the General Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conducts annual training, job certification and development needs assessment.
  • The Director of Golf must pledge to provide the finest personal service and facilities to our guests.
  • The Director of Golf must continuously seek opportunities to improve Cherry Creek Golf Club.
  • The Director of Golf is responsible for uncompromising levels of cleanliness and organization within the golf operation.
  • The Director of Golf must always protect the privacy and security of guests, associates and the company's confidential information and assets.
  • The Director of Golf must portray a professional image with an emphasis on proper appearance, language and behavior.
  • The Director of Golf must be able to build strong relationships and create Cherry Creek Golf Club guests for life.
  • By applying the principles of trust, honesty, respect, integrity and commitment, the Director of Golf will nurture and maximize talent to the benefit of each individual and the company.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the intrinsic ability to oversee all Club staff regardless of department and enliven a lateral service culture amongst all of Cherry Creek's associates.
  • The Director of Golf must develop and exhibit mastery of the point-of-sale system. The POS system is to be maintained meticulously in both programming as well as physical condition of all hardware elements. The Director of Golf is the property expert as it relates to the POS system.
  • The Director of Golf must work with urgency as an active member of the Cherry Creek Golf Club management team. He/She must lead with a balanced and collaborative approach focused on training an empowered collective of Ladies and Gentlemen whom instinctively anticipate and immediately own and remedy opportunities.
  • The Director of Golf must select, procure, physically inventory (monthly) and properly merchandise offerings in the golf shop consistent with market demand while adhering to budgeted purchase allotment and forecasted margins.
  • The Director of Golf must maintain a strong departmental presence placing specific emphasis on the team's adherence to proper phone etiquette, fast and courteous transactions, present and helpful demeanor while interacting with Cherry Creek's guests and fellow staff. These standards must be met even in the Director's absence.
  • The Director of Golf will work with the Corporate Sales Manager and parallel departments in the flawless organization and execution of all golf outings. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) proactively contacting outing clients to determine the needs of guests and anticipate problems leading to proactive resolutions.
  • The Director of Golf is responsible for developing golf programs (e.g. youth clinics) consistent with PGA excellence and in the manner illustrating a commitment within the community and a focus on developing the game of Golf.
  • The Director of Golf is to establish, inform, monitor and diligently maintain the rules and regulations associated with golf etiquette amongst guests and associates. (e.g. divot filling, ball mark repair, golf cart positioning etc.)

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Previous experience in the golf industry is a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills using English as a primary language.
  • Strong presentation and Relationship Extension skills.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
  • Ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service rooted in excellent training.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook etc.)

Education and Experience:
  • On-going or previously received Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • PGA Membership preferred.
  • Previous experience in purchasing and inventory management.
