GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Junior Travel Specialist processes travel related documents and assist with obtaining travel approvals for employees under the Global Health Training, Advisory and Support Contract (GHTASC). These duties range from administrative tasks such as maintaining files and travel databases, to more complex analytical tasks such as spreadsheet maintenance and creating travel budgets. The Junior Travel Specialist ranks tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines, and handles several tasks simultaneously. The Junior Travel Specialist monitors the flow of documents and the timely issuance of airline tickets and acts as a liaison between the travelers and authorizing approvers. The Junior Travel Specialist is also responsible for assisting with monthly and quarterly reports detailing travel performed and planned by non-direct hires staff in GHTASC. The individual must develop a working knowledge of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) travel policies and guidelines, as well as corporate practices and procedures.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
● Reports to the Travel Manager or Acting Travel Manager on the status of travel activities.
● Create accurate travel cost estimates (budgets) and other travel related documentation in accordance with contract standards for travel authorizations.
● Create, review, and submit travel advance request to the accounting office.
● Complete travel orientation/trainings as needed.
● Maintain accurate records of all communications, travel approvals, and expense reports.
● Maintain travel tracking spreadsheets, databases, and general travel mailbox.
● Notify employees of travel related information throughout the approval process.
● Provide written responses to questions received in general mailbox in a timely and highly professional manner while promoting a positive experience.
● Serve as a general resource and point of contact for travel questions and identify situations that require escalation.
● Develop and maintain effective and productive working relationship with corporate and sub-contractor to facilitate the timely processing of requests and resolution of problems encountered.
● Assist with creating electronic reports to track travel detailing the purpose, number of trips and cost of all GHTASC travel.
● Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years, Associate’s and 5 years, or High School and 7 years of professional experience. Knowledge of government travel policies, procedures, regulations and Travel software are desirable. Experience using Concur Solutions travel software is highly desirable. Requires proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail applications. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, as well as work within tight schedule constraints, is critical. Must possess the skills necessary to resolve conflicts and respond promptly to the ever-changing demands of travelers. Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills are required. A “Secret” level security clearance is required and must be obtained.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Oral and written communications skills and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to reports and financial tracking systems. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
